Jaime Callahan holds a bachelor's of science, a master's of education and a doctoral degree in educational leadership. She previously taught sixth-grade math and science in Irving ISD for five years. At Highland Park ISD, Callahan taught fifth-grade science for 10 years and eighth-grade science for one year.
"Most students love science, especially when they get to the fifth-grade at HPISD and have science every day," Callahan said. "The study of the world around us naturally lends itself to the incorporation of STEAM education. There are real world connections abound, opportunities to incorporate multiple subjects areas and many open-ended problems just waiting to be solved to make the world a better place."
Callahan credits her doctoral studies for the direction of now mentoring and building relationships with teachers.
"Instructional coaching was a productive next step toward expanding my impact on student learning," Callahan said. "No longer am I limited to a set number of students each year, instead I have the opportunity to impact the teaching of dozens of teachers who teach hundreds of students. It is a dream come true!"
